it is a gift that has my handiwork,embroidery- Am I being too forward?

For a client or business associate it would be entirely appropriate if the gift was a thank you for their custom.

For a personal gift for a festive occasion such as a wedding, birthday or holiday, a calling card with just your name (or your name and your company's name) on it would be far more graceful and appropriate. (Write your address neatly on the back as a courtesy so they won't have to go searching for your address for the thank you note.)

If the recipient is already a client of your business, and that is why you are sending the gift, I would say no. But then if the recipient is already a client why do you need to send a business card?

It would be nice to put your business card inside of the gift card with the gift.

If you are sending it to them because they are clients, then no.

Now, if you are sending friends a gift and add your biz card, then yeah, i'd say that was tacky and a good way to lose the friends you had before.

If your client doesn't know then yes.

Think of it like the internet, and your embroidery is the website that I go to see, your business card is the pop-up.

If I were the customer who bought it to give as a gift, I would never return to buy again from you knowing you had such underhanded marketing practices.

Now what would not be uncommon is if you had your name on a label, along with where it was made etc, or if you had the name on the gift box.

But a business card is way too much.
