I do agree. I had … I do agree. I had to go watch the video you responded to. I have seen it in myself of giving to other people whether in money, or my time in helping out but for some reason, I catch myself viewing myself as not being self sufficient and prideful, when someone offers to help me out or give something to me, when I know that we were all put on this earth to help one another out. I don’t believe any of us can make it on our own, we need others just as others need us. Just my two cents worth.
I think the thing that confused us is that although Mr. and Mrs. Chu are friends, they haven’t really been around either of us much, except when Mom goes to play bridge.
They’ve visited the house maybe three times in the 16 1/2 years we’ve lived here, and those times they’ve never stayed longer than an hour. Mrs. Chu once brought a dish of food (spareribs, I think) when Mom was ill.
So a 3-digit check sent without fanfare or noticeis totally unexpected.
You are right Tim, … You are right Tim, it is hard to accept gifts of any sort for us. There are those who have helped us because of our situation and as hard as it is for us we accept it because of where it came from and for the reasons that it was given. Most of the time it is hard for us to even express our thanks for those who have done this. The world is a better place when people do reach out and help. I hope this video helps and also lets him know that as a family we have been given gifts. HUGS xoxoxo
